The Kyudo Association of Canada (KAC) and is a not-for-profit organization to promote Kyudo, the Japanese martial art of archery.
The KAC became a member of the International Kyudo Federation (IKYF) in 2010 and sent its first formal delegation to the IKYF seminar in 2011. In addition to training, the KAC does demonstrations at community events to promote Kyudo and more broadly Japanese culture.
Kyudo (literally translated as "the way of the bow") is the Japanese martial art of archery. It is a traditional discipline that uses the Japanese bow for both recreation and sport, as well as the training of body, mind, and spirit.
Objectives of Kyudo
To study the principle of shooting (Shaho) and art of shooting (Shagi)
To apply the formalized movements (Taihai) based on ettiquette (Rei)
To improve the level of shooting (Shakaku) and shooting dignity (Shahin)
The necessity to strive for perfection as a human being
